What is "Victorville"?
There's a large gated development on the west end of the lake, 5 km from Jocotepec on MX 15, that says in big, green, grandiose letters "VICTORVILLE."
I've pondered that for a long time, now I'm hoping that somebody knows what it is. There are a few houses visible through the gate but no signs that make it look like a subdivision (fraccionamiento).
Anybody know?

Could this be the development being promoted by the infamous, Freddy Hobbit? Originally promoted about four or five years ago as a development where prospective buyers had to submit to an interview process to assure the fact that only like minded people purchased this special property. There apparently are some interesting stories about what has transpired in the years since.

No, that's something else, health or eco- or spiritual-something near San Juan Cosala.

Well anything is possible, I guess. But there are two or three San Nicolases around this lake, so I don't think having the same name establishes a connection.

I heard that Victorville is lakesides' most prestigious community.

Luisa:
I was merely speculating that this might be Freddy Hobbit's commune built on ejido [property. I do know that it is on the outside of Jocotepec and not on the San Juan Cosala side.

Luisa, if Victorville was in west Ajijic at Arroyo del Sur where John lives, you might be right. I don't think there can be two most prestigious communities. ;-)

As far as I know, Victorville is a private ranch. Maybe this will help?

Well that's the most information I've seen so far! I've researched a LOT even into Archives.org - they had nothing.

Okay so I THOUGHT the like-minded people place was "Rancho La Salud" near the Piedras Barrenadas Restaurant Row. There is a fairly new sign there with an email address, ranchogreen@gmail.com. Are there TWO places that require you to be green and healthy and submit to an interview to be allowed to join?
OH HERE I just found a website with that info!

Well maybe because I live near there and I have had an interest in the place as well, although mostly it's the name that intrigues me. I did find several other sources but they more or less just said the same thing...a ranch with 4 people living there...

Interesting! I found a web page from several years ago that said it was an ostrich farm! But I have gone by it from all sides and there are no ostriches there, only horses and possible a few cattle.

My Mexican neighbours at San Martin told me 10 years ago it used to be an ostrich farm, but the business failed. You just reminded me of this!
