Anybody been to Tepoztlan?

Sí. A couple of times, back in the '90s. It's a spectacular setting, a charming place, with a New Age vibe. WE were were on day trips, not overnight. Didn't even eat lunch there.

If you are in the area, you might look also at Balneario Las Estacas, not too much farther from Tepoztlan.

I was just starting to work on a September Mexico trip and in checking out the route from Taxco to Puebla, I noticed that one suggested route takes you through Tepoztlan. Besides DC's one suggestion does anyone have any other suggestions for either stops or stayovers along the way?

Neil, if in the Taxco area, a highly recommended side trip are the spectacular Grutas de Cacahuamilpa.
