Anything big happen this afternoon in Chapala?

Post by Intercasa on Tue Nov 16, 2010 7:13 pm

About a little before 4pm police trucks were racing into Chapala, state police are around now. Usually this means something criminally out of the ordinary has happened. Anybody know?

There was a confirmed "situation" at the Chapala Police station. I'm sure we'll hear some accurate details soon......

Quite the hub-bub but will wait to comment until reading the newspaper. Didn't hear of a fire anywhere around here.

Thanks RB. It will be interesting to see how this gets reported. There is nothing in the news yet.

Saw this after searching "Chapala and policia" in the past 24 hours:

Policías de Chapala, Jalisco, detuvieron a su subdirector operativo luego que dejó escapar a un hombre ligado al hallazgo de una fosa clandestina.

Chapala police detained their operating subdirector after he allowed a man linked to a recently discovered secret grave site to escape.

The newspaper in Mazatlan (the Noroeste) had a big article about 5 that were killed in a Narco traffic incident in Lago Chapala. I could not get the article to copy and paste, sorry.

So far they've dug up 3 bodies. Lots of cops speeding down the street, looks like maybe more stuff going on today.

Nothing happening here today. Yesterday at the break out several shots were heard and within 10 minutes the police carried one wounded guy back, one in cuffs and a taxi driver (with cab) at gun point. By that time there were 5 state police vehicles here and it looked like they were preparing to transport 2 of the freshly captured guys. An ambulance picked up the wounded guy and that was about it.

I picked this up off Mexconnect:

Chapala deputy chief arrested
The deputy police chief of Chapala along with four other individuals was arrested. After questioning three bodies were located in shallow graves along the highway between Chapala and Jocotopec. Additionally, two more were found near the village of Ajijic. All the hitmen, including the police official, are alleged to be affiliated with the Millenium Cartel.

Spencer, can you please translate for us?
