Re: Maybe Fracking not so bad??
What the article said was that the chemicals used weren't polluting the water.
"None of them have found chemical contamination, but they did find evidence that natural gas escaped from some wells near the surface and polluted drinking water in northeastern Pennsylvania."
I'm not sure that "natural gas" instead of chemicals makes the water any more potable.
Sounds like a PR job by thefruckers, er, frackers.

And, what do those chemicals do deep in the ground? How long do they stay there? What eventually do they do to what? We don´t know, and they are not saying. But, just close your eyes and go back to sleep. Our government says everything is okay.

One of the main arguments against fracking was it pollutes ground water for wells. This
prelim. release of the study says No it doesn't. Probably the most effective argument
against fracking is gone now is my point if study holds up.

Yes, in the short-sighted American way of raping and pillaging nature for profit, let the fracking continue. They will find out the damage this does to the envoronment once the last of the salable commodity has been extracted from the earth. Okay, perhaps I am a wee bit cynical...maybe.

Re: Maybe Fracking not so bad??
Let's not leave out our Canadian partners in this rush to environmental disaster. James Hansen is the world's foremost authority on the subject of global warming. Here's what he had to say in a recent article in the UK Guardian:
Canada's tar sands are the third biggest oil reserve in the world, but separating the oil from the rock is energy intensive and causes three to four times more carbon emissions per barrel than conventional oil. Hansen argues that it would be "game over" for the climate if tar sands were fully exploited, given that existing conventional oil and gas is certain to be burned.
"To leave our children with a manageable situation, we need to leave the unconventional fuel in the ground," he said. Canada's ministers were "acting as salesmen for those people who will gain from the profits of that industry," he said. "But I don't think they are looking after the rights and wellbeing of the population as a whole.
"The thing we are facing overall is that the fossil fuel industry has so much money that they are buying off governments," Hansen said. "Our democracies are seriously handicapped by the money that is driving decisions in Washington and other capitals."

I believe the article said there was little or no chemical pollution. It didn't address the issue of gas leaking into the well water resulting in people lighting their tap water. And an inability to drink it.

Before you make up your mind, you might want to watch the HBO documentary about the fracking industry—Gasland Part II.

Why a little gas fire in your water would just allow you to sanitize it before you drink it according to the oil industry. Makes sense to me.

LOL Lunateak, I love the word fruckers, I'm going to use it in future conversation. As in, "The fruckers are greedy pigs." And, "The fruckers are ruining our planet."

The fruckers have parents. They are called mother fruckers.

Re: Maybe Fracking not so bad??
I believe that would be "frackers" not "fruckers" as in mother frackers or who gives a frack.......jajaja.
