Re: ?????
I just said to a friend today that the web board has been very quiet in the last few days. Jim may be right. We have had more than our usual share of grey and overcast days recently and it may be affecting moods. I was thinking of posting something like "Royals Name New Baby George Zimmerman Windsor" just to see what I can stir up!

Re: ?????
it's been so boring, I joined another forum.
The only interesting thing I've noticed in the past week is that there were some major happenings in the news...some big bad guys put in jail. One was never discussed here, in fact, his picture never posted in the news, just a report he was picked up in Bugambilias. Well, that same evening, my dh and I went all the way across Guadalajara, I mean ALL the way across town for a b-day party. I noticed many patrols out but got to thinking and mentioned to him, "With all that's happened this week, there wasn't one car burned, no city lock down, no fire fights...we're leaving the house for a late night party, to return at nearly mid night and not even bat an eye about it. So have we gotten used to it? What has happened here?"
Typically, when all is quiet, something big happens...well, it's been quiet since all the hoopla a few weeks ago. Yes, a little gloomy too. But the big thunderstorm was exciting this a.m....the weather is weird...I went to bed last night with the achy knees. Then when the lightening struck somewhere close to home around 5:30 this a.m., even the bottoms of my feet hurt...like all of the nerve endings were startled, never had that before...lots of electricity in the air I guess. We're in the hills of Chapala, low clouds...knees are still achy and i'm not even old yet!
There's some rambling for you Kip lol

Re: ?????
Not so quiet in Michoacan. But, apparently, you have to get the news from a foreign source.

Re: ?????
Here's something just for entertainment...I was trying to find a funny video to cheer up a little friend who ate some spicy Mexican food and wasn't feeling well...came across two videos that I could not believe anyone would record but gotta tell you..made me laugh so hard I cried...so to brighten your evening, here's one of the dumbest videos ever...but watch till the end..if you're choleric at all, don't even bother watching.
How could this commercial been for real? Did anyone ever see it when it actually aired?

Hate to contradict you but INFORMADOR had a couple of articles on these incidents this morning. Additionally QUADRATIN and AZTECANOTICIAS both had articles. So much for the PRI putting the clamps on news stories!

I skimmed Informador.com, looking for the story. but must have missed it. It's good to see that the Mexican press is maintaining a measure of freedom and autonomy.

Re: ?????
Perhaps the reason for the slow down in posting is because people are returning to TOB because the amount of good information here is losing out to attacks and idiots that think they're smarter than everybody else and trying to show off their wordsmith abilities.
BORING!!!

Papa Chango: since you think TOB has better information and this board is boring, why are you still here, not just reading posts but commenting on them? It seems strange to criticize a board and its members calling it boring and them idiots and yet still hang out here.

I don't hang out here but I visit occasionally.
There are many members of this forum that post interesting information. Unfortunately, you're not one of them, Lady.

Re: ?????
I'm not interested in conversations. I'm interested in information on lakeside and life in Mexico. If I want to have a conversation I will go to a bar.
Re: ?????
Well, I saw a couple of the local yokels get their asses handed to them on Mexconnect today, so that was enough internet entertainment for me.
What's your favorite local bar for conversation papa chango?

Locally most of my friends here are Mexican. So I usually go to the Azteca, Rameños and El Chamaleon. I get improve my Spanish and my friends get to improve their English. I learn about what's going on lakeside.

Quoting Smartalex: "It's good to see that the Mexican press is maintaining a measure of freedom and autonomy."
There is actually a "Crimen Organizado" section when reading in Spanish - in the black bar. Since I am challenged, I read it in English and this is the "Racketeering" section: http://translate.googleusercontent.com/translate_c?depth=1&hl=en&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dinformador%26client%3Dfirefox-a%26hs%3DhJM%26rls%3Dorg.mozilla:en-US:official&rurl=translate.google.com&sl=es&u=http://www.informador.com.mx/318/crimen-organizado&usg=ALkJrhjQpLywuReiS52kBz_gNVy1VSfnkg
Plenty of stories today on the various events in Michoacan!

I don't understand what your point is with this post. I have started several posts on both these boards.
