Does anyone know a neumologist?

I need to see a neumologist (lung doctor) since my asthma has gotten really bad. I don't mind driving into Guadalajara to see a doctor but need someone fairly soon.

My husband has been waiting for an appointment with a Respirologist in the Greater Vancouver area since August. As a result of this thread, he placed one phone call to Dr. Blanco's office - asked to speak to the Dr. and the receptionist PUT HIM THROUGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Try that with a Dr. in Canada. The good Dr. told him to call again in Feb. and he would be happy to see him. I am impressed.

I have an appointment on Wed. this week with him. I had two recommendations for him - Dawg on this board and someone else. You can't wait when you have lung problems. My local internist said one respiratory infection I had was so bad that he prescribed a self injection which I keep on hand. He said it was so bad that even though he lives near me an makes house calls he said he didn't think in a bad situation he could get to me in time to save me. Supposedly Dr. Blanco also works in Texas - probably speaks English. I've had pneumonia twice in two months and asthma so I'll post what I think of him after I see him.

please do. We'll be there in Feb. and will make an appointment then. Our so called "free" system here is a travesty.

I'm surprised, my Girlfriend goes back to Canada for all her medical treatment. She just had her thyroid removed a few months ago in Canada and she lives here half of the year. Isn't it getting cold up there!

It works unless you need an MRI, a specialist or surgery. The wait lists are brutal. Not cold at all - I'm in Vancouver and it's 10 C today.

Thank you Dawg for the information on Dr. Blanco. I went yesterday - still had a respiratory infection after two weeks of antibiotic shots (ouch). He said I had been given all the wrong medicines, including antibiotics (I had seen 3 different doctors trying to get it cleared up) and I now have new medicines to try. He said to call or email him any time and he would respond. He has asthma like me and when you get a bad attack it's a crisis, but most doctors don't realize that.
