OK...what's with this beating up on Texas (Texans)? Are they like the Newfoundland (Newfies) of the states or something???

Well Texas and Texans are often a target and I'm not really sure why. Some of it is due to attitude, e.g. SteveBrtx. Texans have a BIG attitude because the state is so big although they never got over the fact that Alaska is many times larger. Texans are not made fun of the way you Canucks make fun of Newfies though. They're just their own special breed. As for me, I know there are "miles and miles of Texas" but I find San Antonio and Austin to be really nice places populated with nice people, great steaks and good barbecue.

They are if Newfoundlanders wear big belt buckles and proudly sport tee shirts and bumper stickers that say Don't Mess With Newfoundland!

Now WHO would mess with Newfoundland? Most folks, especially Americans, don't know where Newfoundland is! How do Canadians view PEI?

I don't know about Canadians, but there's nothing to compare with a good ole Texas PECAN PEI!!!!

I really like Texas. And when I worked in hotels in the Caribbean, Texans were the most fun and the nicest. Almost moved to San Antonio years ago but moved back to the Caribbean instead.

Hmmm....good question. Having never been there I don't give PEI a thought at all. I have never even met anyone from PEI. I imagine it as a big, lonely rock sitting in the Atlantic however I hear it is quite beautiful. On the other hand I know lots of Newfies as many of them have immigrated to the west coast looking for work.

I find the Newfies to be hard working , hard drinking , fun loving folks .

Never met a Newfie I didn't like.

That "Don't Mess With Texas" slogan first appears in signs on the State Highways. It refers to the evils of littering. Lizzy
