The above link has a simple study of what people typically purchase on a weekly basis from a number of countries in the world. There are some glaring differences and before anyone points fingers at Mexico - yes there are plenty of Coke bottles lined up in the back of the Mexico photo.

The US picture is pretty scary , the British one is not too great either, fascinating the contrast with the picture of the various African countries.

Grand Lake is well known for moose walking down Main Street.

Naturally, we visited there expecting to see moose and failed to see even one and we did follow the locals advice to head out towards the golf course around 5pm where we were guaranteed to spot one.

Did any Canadians pick up on the fact that the wife in the Canadian picture is an RCMP constable? Talk about stereotyping!

I thought it would have been more effective had they converted the weekly purchases for each countries into a common currency and shown the percentage of disposable income for each family.

not really. the idea was to show what a "normal" family eats in each country. not what they pay for it.
