What is IEPS?

Just looked over my Wallmart receipt and noticed, along with IVA charge, there is an IEPS charge that came to about 2/3rds of IVA. I guess this is included in the posted price of items (like IVA), but just wondered what it was. Anyone know?

Didn't know. Thanks. Receipt is in the garbage now, so think I remember that the IEPS was something like 22.25 on wine of 125.p and 2 mini softdrink packs of 59.p That comes out to something like 12% on top of the 16% IVA. (If my math is correct). Wow

IEPS is a special tax (Impuesto Especial sobre Produccion y Servicios) ands is 8%, junk food includes this tax:
