To borrow or buy?

I have one for a Yamaha AV receiver. Will that work? Looks exactly the same as your picture.

Either I suppose.  Once I set my sound levels they should stay the same, but either borrow or buy, your choice.

You'd think both being of Japanese manufacturers (and they look the same) could be same horse, just different color (so to speak)?

I think the software is most important. My Onkyo AV runs Audyssey, 2011. It can become quite complicated, the AV amp requires an ethernet connection!
