I think Pedro is saying you can use the donation to actually pay your income tax, not just as a "charitable donation" deduction???

almost correct-what "in lieu of" means it's not a donation-it's how an artist's income tax is actually paid, with some of their work and not pesos. that's why mexican artists don't fill out tax forms keep records nor need accountants. they give the gummint their good art because the gummint puts it on display even in foreign missions. what a great win/win idea. not just those who paint pitchures by the way.
i don't know any other country that supports their artists in this manner.
