Water testing
Does anyone know of labs Lakeside that do testing for things other than bacteria? Parasites, or?

Re: Water testing
There is no water lab at Lakeside (that I know of) but the main Jalisco testing lab for the Guadalajara area is close by and easy to get to. I take care of a private water system east of Chapala and get our water tested on a regular basis.
The lab is located about 100 mtrs. south of the Hampton Inn as you head south out of Guadlajara on the Chapala-Guadalajara highway. Large white building with blue gates and a security guard. It is called "Comision Estatal del Agua". Their number is (33) 3689-1542 and the Lab Manager's name is Martin Martinez Rios. They test for all types of biologicals (Microbiologia) as well as dissolved solids (Metales Pesados y Gravimetria y Fisicoquimico). You can take in your own samples or contract them to come and collect samples (for $700 MX). The receptionist speaks enough English to be able to assist visitors if you are not fluent in Spanish.
The cost for the tests is about $160 - 200 per sample/type. For example, a test of a sample for total coliforms (Coliformes Totales) is $160, a test for fecal coliforms (Coliformes Fecales) is also $160.
I have a copy of their price list which I can scan and email you if you would like.

Re: Water testing
Correct. The last post you were reading is about 2 years old and that lab by the Hampton Inn no longer deals with the public. I have yet to find an alternative water testing lab that has a full range of services and are certified.

Re: Water testing
I have heard that the some of the same labs that do human "fluid" (blood, urine, etc.) testing can do water tests for bacteria but I have no personal experience with it nor have researched it.

Re: Water testing
Well there is definitely a lab on Colon doing blood/urine tests for parasites etc.. Maybe check to see if they also do the water?
Re: Water testing
I think GO lab just east of Maskaras Clinic can do it.....check with them if the other suggestions don't work.

Re: Water testing
I found one in Chapala on Madero but it seems a bit sketchy-slow and expensive. I will see how they do. The Jocotepec lab is much cheaper and more professional.

Lab on Colon in Ajijic.
Analisis Para Determinatcion de potabildad de Aqua 300P per sample. Took about three/four days. Reliable results from six different samples including a control sample of sterile water.
Tests for 8 different things. Two test below for Bacteria I think.
Bacterial mesofilicas aerobicas
indice coliforme

Re: Water testing
If you are chlorinating drinking water, a swimming pool test kit will show 1 part per million of free chlorine.

Re: Water testing
Ah me...
Simapa is the mgr/owner of public wells
In Jalisco, they must test their water.
The lab near the Hampton Inn does the testing - it is part of Commission Estatl de Agua de Jalisco
It not longer does tests for the public
The CEA also certifies the labs in Jalisco that can test water.
There are 5 in Guadalajara.
ABC Labs is one of them
others are
ANASA, LAICA, ECOTEC and AMCysa
Tests for potability are defines in NOM-127
The comnplete set of tests costs about 12000 MN.
But you'll know if you're drinking mercury, lead, arsenic or other fun flavors.

Viajero-Tiempo,
I cannot locate AMCysa on the web. Do you have a website address for this testing lab?
