What Are Must-Sees in Guadalajara?

We're going on the LCS bus trip to the zoo, on 9/25, but this coming Monday will be in Guad for the day. What do you suggest we should not skip (realizing that we will not be able to do it all in one day--figure we'll do it a couple more times before returning NOB at the end of October)?

I think most of the museums are closed on Mondays otherwise I would suggest the Hospicio Cabañas and others in the Centro Historico,the Mercado San Juan de Dios is interesting,it depends on what you like,there's always CostCo and lots of malls..

If you like interesting architecture, check out the Templo Expiatorio... not far from the historic area. Daytime is best, so you can enjoy the incredible stained glass. And be sure to go into the side courtyard and look around.

At the zoo, be sure to go to the very end (the terminus of the cable car) and check out the view. It's absolutely spectacular -- visions of Yosemite. You won't believe you're in Guad.
