Rental Car Insurance NOB

What do you do for car insurance when you rent a car NOB? Living here in Mexico and not having car insurance NOB the rates the rental agencies charge are more than the rental per day. Anyone have any less expensive options?

Many credit cards offer rental car coverage as a standard perk -- check with yours?

AMEX has the best.  If you have an AMEX card you are covered.  If you want even more coverage you can buy a package, in advance, that provides expanded coverage for $24.99 for the whole rental period.

Just came back from Orlando. Insurance on rental car (Fox rentals, away from airport) was about 15 dollars a day for full coverage for a benchmark. Car rentals including insurance are getting expensive.

I think the point that the OP is making is what the cost of insurance is if you NO LONGER have an auto insurance policy on another vehicle in any US State or Canadian province. Some of the insurance "add-ons" that are offered through a rental car agency may require this?? I don't know for sure but check the fine print. It is a requirement for the Mexican "tourist" insurance policies to bring a NOB vehicle in on a TIP.

Some Mexican insurance policies provide some Libility coverage NOB, mine does.  Most major credit cards provide coverage if you rent the car using their card.  If you have insurance the CC insurance is secondary.

My Mexican auto policy provides liability coverage on my vehicle NOB but it doesn't extend to a rental vehicle. If your Mexican auto policy extends to a rental vehicle could you identify the insurer as I would be interested in insuring with them.

We use Jesus Tejada and have AXA. I just emailed him and asked.

We are listed as occasional drivers on our daughters policy.
That provides us with coverage on rentals NOB.

Zen...we also are listed as occasional drivers on our daughter's policy for liability. You are suppose to reside at the same address to do this. My concern is if there should be a serious accident the insurance company would find out we don't live there and deny coverage. We all know they will find any way they can not to pay.
