Hidalgo by the plaza, is dug up
I noticed that Hidalgo is dug up along the plaza. Does anyone know if they are going to replace the cobblestones with something more pedestrian friendly?

several years ago the "magical" mazamitla's central area's roads were done with interlocking pavers and it wasn't detrimental to the ambiance of that heritage site so it won't be to agigig which ain't that significant. some people on chapala.com seem to think that finally fixing them roads proper-like would be[gasp!] horrid.-SNORK!

I could never figure that one out. The roads within the centers of places like Mazamitla, Guanajuato, SMA and Morelia's historical district are beautiful and very much in keeping with that heritage look. The flagstone and pavers are far superior to the cobblestone.

Those same people would probably prefer candles and kerosene lamps instead of electricity for the homes and businesses,

On another note, three younger Mexicans, that I know were out work, got jobs working on this road project. I was speaking with them yesterday and they are quite happy with this job.
