LA GOURMANDAISE FRANCAIS
For all those who've been concerned about that big friendly sheepdog living under sorry circumstances where the old Yves Restaurant on the Ajijic waterfront used to be: you need worry no more. The Crepe restaurant that used to be next door to Maria Isabel has moved into that spot, cleaned everything up and when I passed this morning, it's open for business.
If you're a fan of French crepes, both sweet or savory along with some salads and sandwiches, you'll like it. Food; delicious, prices very reasonable. Nice decor, pleasant service and a view of the lake. (Room enough now for a swarm.) A winning combination, IMHO. Don't know hours, but they are definitely open for lunch. Easy parking in front unless the lake rises.....a lot.

Could you provide an address or some cross streets?

If you go down Colon to the lake, all the way to the Ajijic Malecon, and park in the vicinity, you will see a restaurant on the corner of the waterfront strip called "Maria Isobel" and if you walk past that to the East, you will find the crepe place. It is directly facing the lake.

That doesn't tell us much about what happened to the poor dog! I remember seeing it run back and forth across the balcony about three weeks ago, barking in distress. Are you saying that the owners of La Gourmandaise Francaise gave adopted the dog, and are taking care of it now?

Perhaps you read too much into my saying the dog isn't stuck on a filthy concrete floor. I have no idea what happened after the new tenants moved in, but they no doubt have the number of the property owner and he could tell you what happened to the dog. I hope its life improved, but the new restaurant tenants aren't involved as far as I know.

Newsflash: Triple yum award and the lake view as a bonus.
After lunch, I asked one of the owners if they knew what happened to the sheepdog and in a combination of French, Spanish and English I learned that it's with its owner on the back of the property. No connection to the restaurant.
