Generic drugs

Specifically, Rabeprazole.

I have tried several pharmacies, and they all sell only the Pariet brand.
I have been taking this drug for over 10 years now, and always got the generic brand at about 1/3 of the price of Pariet.
Appreciate any help, as I am about to run out.

You're rarely going to get any deal on name brand drugs here. You might want to ask your local doctor what he/she would recommend as a temporary replacement.

Next thing would be to post here and on TOB asking if anyone is coming down soon from NOB and will they bring your meds w/them. I just did this for a lady here when I came back from NOB. I don't know what the story is on ordering meds shipped here from NOB.

Costs nothing to check out what I have said above.

Did you try WM for the generic? How about Farmácia Express next to OXXO? If so, and no go, try Similares. If none of that works, the best generic farmácia in the area is in Joco. Into Joco, turn R at the Santander bank, first left on Morelos, pass the mercado, at the intersection park and walk over to the other side of the street fronting the little triangular park.

If you are taking this for hearburn/reflux....have you tried solutions other than a pharmaceutical? I had read that these types of prescriptions were only intended to be used as a temporary solution and doctors fail to mention and just give people what they want.

Some natural remedies actually do work. I no longer take anything and if I do occasionally have a problem, I use apple cider vinegar with water. Just a suggestion as it is nice to no longer depend on a prescription.

Agree with FFox. Proton Pump Inhibitors, if taken long term, can completely stop the pump from functioning which is an essential component for digestion. Ah, the power of the pharmaceutical companies.

Also a good idea to find out why one needs PPIs, is your diet too greasy? Change it. Do you lay down after eating? Stop it! Do you have celiac? I USED to have a doc here who kept prescribing PPIs stronger and stronger until I finally diagnosed myself with celiac and confirmed it with Dr. JP and Chief of Staff of GI at a hospital in Guadalajara. Find the reason.

Consider everything above however only you know your body and what you have tried before. I note the medication seems to be for more than "simple" heartburn or temporary digestive issues.

And I agree that (too) many doctors prescribe and don't look forward and people keep taking meds after they are not needed.

And as for the pharmaceutical companies, if you really want to get sick, go to Google and put in Class actions Johnson bayer and you will read a lot of proven horror stories of how these companies put out drugs they found to be unsafe and other things they have done that should shock and scare you.

The Similares in Chapala on the main street east side close to the plaza offers 25% off all drugs every Monday.

Have you tried Generi-K (Spelling?)? There are several around, one on the south corner of the Chapala plaza. I think there's one near Plaza Montana. Similaries is similar, Generi-K is generic. A big difference.

Maskaras also frequently has generic at a good price.

Our best source for generics was at Farmacia Ahuacatlan on Hidalgo, just east of the main intersection in Chapala. We tried all the others for many years before there was a Walmart; which does a good job carrying generics also. Another advantage: Farmacia Ahuacatlan will deliver.

100% agree that apple cider vinegar will work and you will never need the other meds (protonics)again. Give it a try and try it for a week or two. 1tbls in some water, drink it down twice a day……easy and very inexpensive solution!

I have tried every drug every natural remedy over the last 3 years and nothing has worked so far. I am nowconsidering surgery which is a last resort solution for me so it is howdesperae I am to get rid off the cough the reflux is giving me.
Everyone is different and to say that something will work and you will never need any meds is being ignorant and very narrow minded. It will work for some and not for others. One should try everything it istrue, but it may or may not work.

I have GERD. The Rabebrozole works, but the cost here for Pariet is about CDN $3.00 compared to what I paid for Pariet 12 years ago which was less than CDN $1.00.
Surgery is another option, but I prefer not to go that route.
I have tried many other options in the 15 or so years since it was diagnosed, with no success.

If you have true GERD, there is a treatment with multi antibiotics and protonics that they are doing now and it gets rid of true GERD about 95% of the time. Any internist can prescribe the treatment regimen for you and it is perfect timing if you are off the protonic as you have to be off for the antibiotic therapy to work appropriately. The treatment is a 14 day treatment and occasionally has to be down twice for the cure for GERD.

e you talking of the treatment to get rid off the helicobacteria that is the cause of ulcers? Did that too..

Try eliminating ALL gluten for a week or 2 and see what happens. It has to be ALL gluten, not just bread and pasta.

Eliminating ALL gluten means reading the labels of everything you even think of putting in your mouth and staying away from restaurants for that week or two.

The Lady is right. Eat nothing but fresh (not packaged) foods, meat, fruit, vege, dairy, all that. Of course only gluten free breads and pastas (SL has many to choose from). Almost all sauces, salad dressings, and condiments contain gluten. Don't use them for this experiment as it's complicated - for example, Hunts catsup has gluten but Heinz does not. Eat nothing but natural foods for a couple of weeks and see if that makes a difference in how you feel. If you have questions, PM me.

I am already not eating any gluten. I do not buy anything that has been prepared ,no bread and so on. In France we pretty much used to make everything from scratch including the mayo so that is not a tough one for me but that does not work either.. Ketchup I do not eat so I do not have to worry about gluten or not gluten , salad dressing i make, sauces I do not buy and only the ones I make so gluten is not the problem.
I do not go out an eat any longer so it cuts out all the ifs and items that may have gluten. Gluten intolerance is not my problem, my problem is simply mechanical I have a valve that has seen better days..

When you have a bad case of GERD you have it..some of the omeprazole type medecine used to help but they do not any longerand I hate taking medcine tostar with..

SOunds to me like time for surgery. Sorry to say that, but it is more detrimental to your health to not have the surgery. I am sure you can find a good surgeon here versed in this surgical procedure.

Generic Rabeprozole is not available in Mexico.

May I suggest that you discuss your ailment with Dr. Hector Valenzuela at Quality Care/Medicos Especialistas. He is excellent, and I have the scars to prove it. :)

Thanks for the recommendation. I am leaving for France in a few weeks so I see what the doctor say over here and will make a decision when I come back.
