For you folks who have Shaw check out tonight Detroit PBS HD channel ( or any PBS channel probably) they will have all kinds of fireworks and music.   Good fun!!  Saw a preview this morning and it looked beautiful in HD. Break out the food and booze or Whatever floats your boat!!

Ha! Bassakwards I think! Nothing to be grateful for IMHO! I'll remind you that most of the other colonies bailed out too! e.g. Canada, Australia, India, etc.

Not the Irish.  They told the Brits to stick their Commonwealth, you know where, while the Taoiseach Costello was in, of all places, Canada.
Unlike the Canadians, the Irish shed a lot of blood to get partial independence, and it's not over yet, that's why we/they don't have an independence day in Ireland.
