Aduana Office in Nuevo Laredo Empty Aduana Office in Nuevo Laredo

Post by SunFan Mon Jul 06, 2015 1:24 pm

I'm taking our car to the US to sell.

I'd like to turn in the T.I.P and see if I can actually get a refund.

It's been 4 years since I passed through Nuevo Laredo and visited the Aduana office.

Can someone please remind me how to find it or maybe an address for a GPS?

TIA

I can't answer that question however I am curious as to what you are doing with your Canadian plated vehicle in the US? Others might be interested as well.

Aduana Office in Nuevo Laredo Empty Re: Aduana Office in Nuevo Laredo

I don't have a breakthrough solution I'm sorry to say.

My wife, the car owner, is going Permanente in October. She has a 2008 NAFTA car built in Ontario.

As you know each year Aduana was supposed to allow 7 year old NAFTA cars to be nationalized. In 2015, vehicles 2008 and older should have been eligible.
After months of Aduana screwing around and not nationalizing 2008 (or newer) cars I appeared to have four choices - a) drive it off the Ajijic Malecon into the lake b) give it to a Mexican as a Chocolate c) hire someone to steal it (or crash into it) or d) drive it back to Ontario and sell it.

Fortunately my American brother-in-law wanted the car for his son. They're flying down in late July to drive the car back to New York. We emailed all the ownership paperwork in advance and he made arrangements with American Customs in Laredo to give him a 30 permit to get the car to his home and licensed. Our plates are from 2011.

So instead of the government getting tens of thousands of pesos in duties, VAT and license fees they get nothing and may even return my $400 dollar T.I.P.!

Go figure.

As I understand it the T.I.P. should have been renewed, either every 6 months or annually, not sure which to get a refund. Ours was credited back to our credit card, within 3 weeks.
