Try Paz beside SuperLake. I'm sure I have seen it there.

Zippo lighter fluid is essentially naphtha, but there's no specific definition of naphtha. What is sold as naphtha (also called white gas) usually contains other petroleum distillates toluene and benzine, etc. The bottom line is that the Zippo can contains what we call naphtha.

The bottom line is that you can use naphtha as a replacement for Zippo fluid. It's much cheaper. You can buy a lifetime supply for the cost of a few cans of Zippo. Petroleum distillates are complicated, but the general term of haphtha is general enough that even Zippo doesn't know exactly what they're getting. Be careful not to get naphthalene since it's similar sounding.

Naphtha is also known as spot remover, white gas, and a bunch of other names. Makes a good stain remover on color safe clothing on many stains. It's a very versatile product and cheap Zippo refill fluid. It's also used widely as charcoal starter in BBQ pits. Just try and buy one grade better than the cheapest since there are no specific definition of the product. One step up in grade will be much more stable. I don't know what's available in Mexico. Some also call it mineral spirits, but I wouldn't use that. White gas or naphtha.

Good luck. Glad to help.

As an aside, Zippo made their lighters so that you could dip them in a Jerry can (gas can) to fill them up.  Maybe the liquor store on the East side of Super Lake will have it.

Do not dip your Zippo into gasolina... the results would be VERY dangerous unless you were doing nothing more than trying to prove you machismo. Burns hurt. Foolish decisions have consequences.

I'm done with this issue. Dip it in rocket fuel for all I give a damn. Just trying to give accurate information, not old wives tales or BS.

Bob, Joe, thanks for the input and confirming naptha was a viable option. Appreciated.

I think Zippo fluid has an additive that makes it evaporate slower. Since it is really quite inexpensive I would just stick with the real deal.

Naptha,Benzene,Mineral Spirits,Zippo Fuel, can all cause cancer, then again if you smoke, you may not be worried. Use high proof rum or vodka and don't sweat it!

Go to PAZ next to Superlake. Step inside and look to the left. There is a display cabinet on the front wall. In the bottom section you can find flints, wicks and fluid.

The last time I was there they were about out and I had to bend over and look to the back of the cabinet to find it but it has been in that location for the last 9 years
