I am a Plummer but what you want is a plumber  14:13:07 Sorry I could not resist. We use Miguel and Jorge father and son team. Miguel lives in San Juan and Jorge in Ajijic hopefully someone has their number, I am travelling and do not have their number. They are good reliable, show up when they say they will , we have used them for many years and always have been happy with them.

You beat me to it, Brigitte. I was about to recommend you and Hound Dog as the only “Plummers“ I know of.
I hope the OP finds a good plomero to plumb that new house.

I wish I had their number in my cell phone because they are good but I guess I did not plug it in because I call them from home.. I hope someone has their number. WHen I saw plummer I laughed because Bob is not the handy type and I can just see him trying to fix anything..

Is there a difference between plomero and fontanero?

One fits pipes, the other fixes and unplugs them (and valves etc)

Thanks, that's what I thought, but they seem to be interchangeable in common usage.

yes the contractors I used tend to say fontanero..but then I have not paid attention as I thought they were interchangeable.

We have tried almost every plumber in the area and were never been satisfied with the results. We finally found Raul Perez.  Rury, as he is called, has the rare ability to think outside of the box, both in diagnosis and solution. He solved an age old problem with one of our showers where the water pressures were different on the hot and cold feed and they wouldn't mix. Once equalized we were able to have total control.  Last summer he replumbed  our whole house, on the outside in order to have a better grasp on our system which ran haphazardly within the slab we call our floor.

There is no one around like him.  His father was known as the best plumber in Ajijic and now Rury, who began his apprenticeship as a child,  fills his shoes. He also as good an electrician as he is a plumber.

He speaks English as if it was his first laguage.

Yes Rudy knows the business alright but his mentors were his uncle and grandfather, also named Raul Perez (fulano). Have known and used the family for 40 years. Good kid.
His abuelo was a master electrician and as knowledgeable as any engineer, even though he was self-educated.
