San Andres Fiesta

Either we are getting used to it or they really seem to have toned down on the cohetes for this fiesta. Other than the usual breakfast and dinner barrage there has been really nada during the day or late evening. It seems much quieter than previous years. Of course they may ramp things up over the next 7 days.

Agreed Bob. Noticed the same thing.

It seems the overall use of cohetes (and noise in general) has diminished substantially over the past 2 years. Rarely do we hear cohetes or loud "house party" music other than during special occasions.

Jaja..........I stand corrected. They must be reading Inside Lakeside and have ramped things up accordingly. Non stop cohetes now.

I think they've sent them over to Chapala.

I'll confirm they sent 'em to Chapala, S.O.B! Early morning, late night and nap time. Music on weekends till all hours, no prob., if you like loud 'music'. And all that racket to honor a saint? Saint Son Of A Bitch it must be, and finally something makes sense.

Yep In Chapala starting about 5 am, going steady, but it's all good, drowning out my Whooping and Holloring, One hell of a ball game on :)

Remember, each day of the 9 day fiesta is sponsored by a different group of people. each group wants to outshine all others. I think it will get worse each day.

6 a.m. is bad enough. Today they outdid themselves, starting at 5. Oy.

In Ixtlahuacan, the loudest cohete day is the one sponsored by town citizens currently living in the USA. (according to the gardener who tells me all the scoop)

Isn't this about the twelfth or thirteenth day? I thought the three story trampoline would be gone today but no such luck. :(

Shortly the Our Lady of Guadalupe festivities will be starting!!
