BARGAIN LUNCH AT ROBERTO'S
We saw the new bargain lunch menu in the Guad Reporter this week and scurried over there to try it since we've been pleased with the food at Roberto's in general. Prices wander around 60 pesos; a few 65 and some 55.
Carrot fritters and bread or tortillas come first along with butter and spicy tomato dip. Soup is 15 pesos extra if you want it.
We had the chicken breast sandwich and the arrechera sandwich and split them. Choice of fries, mashed potatoes or potato salad on the side. The sandwiches were the kind you should have a bib on to eat: meat, tomato, grilled onions, cheese and avocado, on a baguette. The chicken sandwich had a poblano chile slice.
There was a variety of other choices. I'm sure we'll work our way through them.
The word is: YUM!

Hock ~ Ever had a chile relleno? That is what is usually stuffed. Largish, triangular, dark green and meaty. The meat has a lot of substance, and is usually about medium on the hot scale. Take out the seeds and veins if you want it milder. Lizzy :)

Poblanos are mild. On a scale of 10 with 10 being a Serano, Poblanos are a 3, max.

I can't manage "hot" hardly (I've tried, and failed), and I found the chile in the sandwich very mild. It was skinny slices of the chile, not the whole thing...so no seeds.
BTW, the arrachera meat was very tender. No chile in that sandwich.

So a Polano Slice with your Chicken Sandwich is really a southern version of a Pickle Slice :)... Sounds good... I'll definitely hafta try it...
Truth be told ... when I think Peppers, I always leaned to the hot ones... A few friends, and especially my brother in law... and myself are always concocting something to try to knock the others off of their feet...
Oriental, Schezuan, East Indian... I've eaten stuff that left your taste buds " a distant memory "
