Local roads in Ajijic

Chapala raised the price of constrution permits. Almost to the point where no one can afford to build a new house.

raising taxes is not the solution. Where does the money go? Salaries? How much and to whom?. There is no accounting for monies received. You could raise taxes on properties but that does not mean it will be spent in Ajijic. Chapala (the municipio) needs Ajijic's real estate taxes. How many 400,000.00 dollar houses exist in Chapala?

The majority of expensive houses are in the hills.

I have been coming to Lakeside for a dozen years. The roads have always been sh-tty. Why would anyone expect anything different?

Have the roads in Chapala municipo ever been nice?

I guess the weather is more important than the most basic government services for the expats living lakeside.

Not all states have wonderful roads so Chapala is not that different than many places I know in Mexico. Just slow down and you will be ok.

I travel thru-out Mexico too. Most states have better roads than Chapala and Jalisco in general.

Banks.....according to posts on TOB.  Then pasta servings, sirens,  and a list too long to post....always something destroying our happiness.

I guess Playaboy you have not gone to many places in Chiapas or Oaxaca or Guerrero or some places in Tabasco..stick to the main roads and you are ok go to small towns like Chapala and the roads can be awful.

Slainte you have that one right, have you ever heard such a bunch of complainers..the grass is always greener somewhere else but not too many go out where life is better they rather sit behind the keyboard and complain...
So there are potholes, slow down and go around them , we are retired so what is the hurry.. then the bank...I guess no one in Mexico uses banks because they are so bad and will eat up the little money you have and on and on..

TOB has the biggest bunch of whiney crybabies constantly complaining about the "horrors" of living here. I sometimes wonder if I'm really living in the same area as these people.

Same here Lady Otter, every time I read the thing I get depressed and do not want to return to Ajijic..
.WeI just delayed the return another day but not because of them , just because a group of pissed off campesinos are blocking the road out of town so we just wait until the conflict is oer and enjoy San Cristobal another day..life could be worst , we could live like the majority of people here ...

I enjoy seeing a newbie with his sporty hat, his brand new low slung little convertible and wondering how long that's going to last !

My theory is the Municipal leaders are letting the streets of Ajijic go to shit on purpose. All those unrepaired potholes? It's intentional: a passive/aggressive effort on their part to convince Mainecoons to move away.

I'll agree with that & wouldn't blame them if it's true. My street is exactly the same as it was 6 years ago when I bought my house. No complaints here.

Excellent advice, Trailrunner! I have lived here for eight years doing just that. "It is what it is."
Some of us go out, bump over cobbles, go around potholes, come home to our beautiful homes, and enjoy the wonderful lives we could never afford in our home country.

Others go out, bump over cobblestones fuming and fussing, hit potholes while cussing and mumbling, go home to beautiful houses they don't even notice as they sit down at their computers to bitch and complain on a web board about how they are being ripped off and abused by the local government.

BTW, Brigitte, there are so many bank branch offices in Guadalajara and they can't build new ones fast enough to hold all money they are ripping off from their customers.
The pueblo loves it and can't deposit their money fast enough.

yes Slaintes some people are gluttons for punishment..We have 2 Mexican bank accounts and no problems in 15 years..must be doing something wrong..
