GVprod, if you think this thread is just about an ATM machine you need to improve your reading comprehension.

Scotiabank invests millions of dollars in digitalisation 18 April, 2016

This format is currently being piloted in Mexico, to be followed shortly by Canada.

Scotiabank’s key initiatives include:

Investing $185 million in a new core banking platform in Mexico. The bank is a long-standing user of the Cobis core banking system from a regional vendor, Cobiscorp. It is worth noting that this is not the first time Scotiabank’s core banking system in Mexico is in the spotlight. Back in November 2014, Porter mentioned at a conference call that a new core banking system was being installed in the Mexican subsidiary.

Very interesting, but I'm not sure what this may have to do with our lone Scotiabank ATM being out of service for so long...

It may be the reason the machine was replaced and the delay in getting it up and running.

I think we have in us to make four pages on an ATM thread. It won't take much effort at all.
For example, is there some point to having the card inserted sideways?

The notion of "sideways" is really pretty subjective when you think about it. For instance, if I'm standing in front of the atm, but am turned 45 degrees to the right or left, it wouldn't be sideways at all. I might even need to insert the card backwards.

Well. And the notion that old people can adapt to those kinds of changes overnight is highly presumptuous! Not to mention optimistic.

Four pages? POC

Is there any possibility of inserting the card while standing on your head to overcome that last concern you mentioned without bringing a stool and cushion?  Seems a tough test for the geriatric crowd, especially octogenarians.

That reminded me, when I arrived at the Scotia ABM this morning there were two Mexican teenagers already there. It took then more than ten minutes to complete their transaction. I wonder if they own smart phones?

By the time they finished there were 5 of us old farts lined up.

Great question! That is precisely why at the Rosa Venus Institute, we combine instruction in both Strict Ashtanga Yoga with Vinyasa Flow Yoga, to help our students develop both greater body strength and flexibility. Plus, of course, the enormous spiritual growth that helps us all better navigate abrupt changes in the dynamic wider world we live in.

We meet every Wednesday morning on the rooftop of La Bodega. "Tambourine Fellowship" is from 5:30-6:30 am (we need more tambourines, please bring!), followed by Sunrise Yoga. Join Us!

As long as there have been ATMs we have inserted the cards vertically. All we had to worry about was which end was up, something that becomes more difficult the older I get. Now they pull off some change to a horizontal insertion for what appears to be no good reason? And the standing sideways or on my head, cushion or no cushion, is never going to happen.
But I still might be interested in the sunrise Tambourine Fellowship on the roof of La Bodega though.

I used it this afternoon, and other than the different card placement, there were no other hiccups. I'm just glad it's back in business.....tired of paying fees at other ATMs to get my own money! Thumbs up

Do you need some amplifiers? The neighborhood around La Bodega is kind of quiet & you might get some others to join.

Happy Canada Day, suegarn. Glad to hear the atm is working again.

---) Carry Bean: Thank you for your kind offer, but our preference is to avoid electronic amplification and instead rely on JOYOUS HUMAN AMPLIFICATION!

And while I earlier referred to it as our "Sunrise Tambourine Fellowship", I failed to mention that ALL percussive METAL instruments are welcome: drum cymbals, metal trash can lids, pots and pans from the kitchen, etc. Whatever is handy! We're working to foster communion through EXHUBERANT early morning metallic expression! That's our goal!

All welcome!
