Re: Repelling mosquitoes
At La Media Luna we sell all natural repellant made from citronella & cloves. :-)
It works very well and is all I ever use.

This from the people who, it is reported, are very sick with Dengue?

Where, pray tell, is it reported? Unless I'm missing something here, the unfortunates suffering through a bout of Dengue are "The owners of the bakery / deli on Calon", and not the poster La Media Luna.
As for their repellent, I have no idea if it works. Perhaps you could give us a brief accounting of your experience with the product?

Re: Repelling mosquitoes
Sorry for the misunderstanding, the people that are ill are friends of mine. I don't know if they used this product or not.
Citronella & cloves have been used as a natural repellant for many years. We us it at home because mosquitoes do not like the small and stay away for many hours.

Comparative repellency of 38 essential oils against mosquito bites.

Abstract
The mosquito repellent activity of 38 essential oils from plants at three concentrations was screened against the mosquito Aedes aegypti under laboratory conditions using human subjects. On a volunteer's forearm, 0.1 mL of oil was applied per 30 cm2 of exposed skin. When the tested oils were applied at a 10% or 50% concentration, none of them prevented mosquito bites for as long as 2 h, but the undiluted oils of Cymbopogon nardus (citronella), Pogostemon cablin (patchuli), Syzygium aromaticum (clove) and Zanthoxylum limonella (Thai name: makaen) were the most effective and provided 2 h of complete repellency. From these initial results, three concentrations (10%, 50% and undiluted) of citronella, patchouli, clove and makaen were selected for repellency tests against Culex quinquefasciatus and Anopheles dirus. As expected, the undiluted oil showed the highest protection in each case. Clove oil gave the longest duration of 100% repellency (2-4 h) against all three species of mosquito.

Is anyonw offering English remedial reading classes? It appears that they are sorely needed; as is a course in proofreading before posting.

Re: Repelling mosquitoes
This was an observation of mine yesterday.
A mosquito, in my kitchen, landed on an overripe avocado and spent quite a bit of time probing it. I thought it was a stupid mosquito until I started to wonder about the gases that fermenting fruits give off. You guessed it... CO2.
So, if you have fruit trees or bushes in your yard and fallen fruit on the ground, it may be a good idea to clean it up promptly. The mosquitoes will be attracted by the CO2 but they'll find you as well.
Just a thought.
