Californification

Back in a previous life I was a bank examiner stationed in San Francisco often working in the Pacific Northwest..  When I was assigned duties in such places as Seattle and Portland. I was often asked by local yokels if I planned to  disgrace their  communities with my presence upon retirement as had so many Californians fond of constant rain and fog, Now, I am an Alabama boy fond of warmth and sunshine so my normal response was that the day I left San Francisco, a fine town in many aspects, I would drive  nonstop to the Mexican border and not stop until I reached Chiapas.  To each his/her own but I have lived in Mexico for 16 years now  and you could not pay me to move back to California.

I lived in California a total of 30 years, a refugee from Connecticut where I had been born and grew up. I loved it when I first lived there but it is no longer that place and hasn't been for a very long time. I have not returned for a visit to the U.S. in five years. The more time goes by the less I am inclined to do so.

My folks had the good sense to abandon the Chicago weather and move to California when I was a mere babe.  Loved it then, but the affair ended long ago.  Too many people watched that sunny Rose Bowl parade with scantily clad drum majorettes while their Midwestern furnaces were going full blast.
Moved to Mexico over 12 years ago and went back once for a funeral.  Bye, bye, for good.

As I recall, Bubba2shoes settled in Ajijic a goodly time before he began his yearly escapes to Chiapas (due to a our town lacking a Burger King). There. Food has been mentioned.

I just moseyed over there and failed to find what Bookworm was talking about unless it was the post "Ezzie" made about his bandido encounter. Some arse found the story unbelievable and said so, snarkily. Much about nothing. Who's Babs??

He was banned long ago, but it doesn't seem to be a problem for those who want to slip back in there under another handle. IMO, too much trouble.

The thread to which The Worm alludes was about an ATM. S/he posted it in La Cocina and when called on the error snarkily attacked the poster. When s/he was treated to like treatment by several other posters the wormy whining and hurt feelings began. The problem wasn't that S/he posted in the wrong forum but that s/he snarkily replied to a poster and then acted as though the responses came from nowhere. A mod finally caught up to it, moved the thread to the correct forum leaving just the OP and deleting all the back-and-forth snark. Apparently The Worm was not finished and came over here to attack posters not on TOB hoping for some more attention.

Isn't awful that when you make a mistake, someone notices it.  I feel so sorry for bookworm having to put up with all this vindictiveness.
