physically challenged
I think it would be really nice if when reporting about a restaurant that we included if it’s wheelchair friendly. Also if they have handrails to maneuver the stairs. Lots of physically challenged in this town.
I know Tony's (next to Superlake) is wheelchair friendly. Others?

Re: physically challenged
I had at least hoped Johninajajic would have responded. I don’t believe it would be all that difficult because there’s probably not that many.
Hadn’t thought much about this issue before but I’ve found myself, hopefully, temporally in a zoom buggy. (wheelchair) This area is not very wheelchair friendly!

OK, here goes, but I'm not perfect at remembering, so phone them to be sure..
LAURENT - no steps, I believe it's flat.
NINETTE - no steps, I believe there's a wheelchair ramp.
HACIENDA, difficult over cobbles for a short distance to the ramp and waiters would definitely help
TABARKA, flat
GIOVANNI'S, flat
TONY'S, flat
I believe all the others have steps that you couldn't negotiate.

Thanks John, This is very much appreciated. We had a friend in a wheelchair and at some locations they allowed her to wheel-in through back door/kitchen.

Re: physically challenged
Yves, on the Ajijic waterfront has very good food, pleasant waitstaff and a long ramp leading up to the door. I have seen people who are physically challenged there. Serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Closed Wednesday. Nice lake view.
The owner will put the chain down at the of the street so people can park right next to the restaurant if given a heads up beforehand. I'd call and describe the car and the time of arrival.
There may be a problem with the ground during the heaviest part of the rainy season, so casing the parking area might be a good idea.
I also think (not 100% sure) that the Hotel Nueva Posada has a door near the check in counter that would accommodate a wheelchair and a ramp to the outdoor dining patio.

Thank you Gringal. I would like to go to Yves your posts made it sound so good. And I’ll take your suggestion about the salad bar. I forgot to mention I have eaten at Nueva Posada and it’s fairly easy to get into. Park in their parking and roll on down.

Re: physically challenged
Went to the mall across from Wal-Mart yesterday and had a midafternoon snack at Army Wings. (The complete mall seems wheelchair friendly. Hooray!) It’s a bit pricey, didn’t care for the décor that much, definitely for a younger bar crowd, but the wings were great. Had the honey-mustard type.

Just drove by Pranzo's in La Floresta and it's also flat.

Thanks, this is exactly the kind of information that is needed. We’ll always check them out first but it gives a source to start with.
