Tall lakeshore building LaFloresta

Does anyone know what is being built near the Yacht club in LaFloresta? Is That tall of a building on the lakeshore allowed?

Its on hold for now as City of Chapala put a stop work order on it. Big debate going on about size and height of new construction lakeside. I have studied the issue and I am not sure what the zoning laws are locally. Its very confusing.

Yesterday there were workmen there, a lot of action and noise on those steel beams. Is the building a hotel or condos?

Approximately two years ago some shareholders in the Chapala Yacht Club re-organized and began the development of part of their property as a high rise development.
In the dying days of the last Chapala Presidente’s administration a building permit was approved for the construction of three 6 story condo units on Yacht Club land right on the lakefront.
Construction has begun and the skeleton steel structure of an 8 story high rise now sits on the waterfront,
For two years the La Floresta Fraccionmiento has been legally challenging the development and attempting to stop construction. Although there are no zoning or building laws there are density limits set by Jalisco.
As the article in the Reporter noted, construction was halted but the Mayor commented “vertical development” at lakeside was inevitable in the future.
Construction has now renewed on the site. Rumor has it a new building permit has been issued legitimizing the deviation from the original
La Floresta’s legal challenge continues to wind its way through the courts
