Anyone tried this or thinking of doing this? What are your thoughts on this?

On a different note who has heated flooring? I'm going to be doing a bathroom and thinking of adding it.
Anyone here done that ? Did you like it? Drawbacks? Pluses?
I can understand doing the whole house wouldn't be doable, but what about certain areas?
How about incorporating it in one room. Why not not extend heated areas to the walls of one room?
Just playing around with ideas and looking for input..

Re: LED Wallpaper
For those of us who own it's a nice luxury and adds to resale value should I decide to sell.
When I had extensive remodeling done my architect assured me it could be done and in higher end homes was the norm.
Since then I thought it would be a nice addition to be added to a study/office/home theater room.
Seeing as heat is not needed year round it shouldn't cost that much to use.
As far as the LED wallpaper it would make a stunning statement on one wall. If you did research its customizable. Also LED is economically affordable when used in lighting.

Re: LED Wallpaper
Are you talking about Mexican homes or your house in the US? It certainly won't add any value to a Mexican home.

And the walls in Mexican homes are never smooth enough for any kind of wallpaper... and the floors are solid concrete so unless the heated flooring were installed when building it would be nearly impossible... and for the couple of months that it would be needed?
Neither of your ideas work here imho.

My Mexico home, even if there is no added value I would like it for when stepping out of the shower
for warmth and comfort.
If my architect said it could be done underneath the tile why not expand on that and do the walls?
I know here they have done it in walls, time-consuming, yes! Expensive yes You only live once!

I have a little heater in my bathroom. Works great. Cost about 20 bucks 10 years ago. There's gotta be a better way to spend money. Do you have solar panels on your roof yet? That does add value to Mexican houses.

Re: LED Wallpaper
The floor or wall heating system will be very expensive and inefficient in total masonry construction, as found in Mexico. It might be OK for a small floor area, under the tile, with suitable insulation beneath, plus fully insulated pipes from the heat source. Perhaps the most economical and efficient method might be to simply run the shower‘s hot water supply pipe through a coil in the floor just outside the shower. Of course, that would waste a lot of water. How about a nice fuzzy bath mat?

A tapete is much cheaper, uses no energy, can be had this side of the border, and isn't hard to imagine.

Re: LED Wallpaper
I put under floor heating in a garage/workshop in the US and it was great.
You have to insulate under the concrete and put the tubing in before the concrete is poured. It is a great heat because your feet suffer the most in cold weather. It just took a small hot water heater and a small pump to make it work
I also put it in a wooden floored bathroom by running the hot water for the bathroom through the floor and then to the shower. When you got out of the shower, the floor was warm.

Re: LED Wallpaper
The bathroom is roughed in, just waiting to be finished out. We had discussed doing this. I'm going to call him and see if it's feasable to do the wall's.

Re: LED Wallpaper
I already had a custom spiral staircase installed where I want to build up for another level. My house is on the lake on SS. When and if I build up I wanted a wall of windows facing the lake.
The view of the lake is blocked by the walled court yard and tree's. Another thing I wanted to do is add an outside kitchen (basic) sink, small fridge, and a vented grill/ smoker and a fire pit under the trees.

I do not think a spiral staircase adds value to your home at Lakeside, most of us seniors have difficulty walking on the flat...sure your Mexican contractor will say "no problema" to in stall and then "no problema" to fix when it goes wrong.
