The insignia on their car - who were they?

Actually it is 4 of the 5 dead sicarios. 1 on the ground, 3 in the truck.

As long as they butcher themselves among themselves, more power to them. My wife is reporting that one of them lived along our street on Zaragoza in Joco according to our neighbors but who knows. Inaccurate, exaggerated "chisme" is all the norm in our little town.

I believe these ones were taken out by the policia. No?

And that one really was shot up! I expect it will be painted black soon and be sporting a different insigna. . .

Jaja.......I was thinking the same thing. It also shows why you shouldn't keep your piece in the glove box. It takes too long to get out......

Good question Cbob. My wife claims it was the authorities but I do not believe anything she hears through the grapevine without a gringo/canuck confirmation. Do you have details? Local, state, federal police, military?

Seems like for every rat they exterminate, 20 more pop up! Just like rats, you can't get rid of them all. I think AMLO will be the next president of Mexico and he has another tack in mind for them. Lets see if they disappear into the background again since frontal attack has not worked. They've been there since the 30's and will continue so as long as the gringos thirst for drugs. They were just not visible until Calderon declared war on them, I'm sure with the urging of the US government as if our own war on drugs has worked! The governments of both countries should get into the business, tax it and undercut narco prices if they truly want to get rid of it. But then the huge industry that exists as a result of keeping drugs illegal would also disappear which the powers that be would not be happy with either.

What bothers me is that we can't arm ourselves with anything greater than peashooters to defend ourselves in Mexico. A .22 is just going to really piss someone off unless you are capable of an eye socket shot each time. Always a bad situation when only the authorities and bad guys have the firepower. Like old saying goes "God made Man but Samuel Colt made Him Equal".

What is AMLO's plan???

There is no war on drugs. They're all in it together. If the cartels suddenly went away, half of the economy of this country would collapse. Probably more than half.

So, you think we should all be armed? How's that working for the states?

From what I read it was the Fuerza Única (Elite Policia) that took these guys out after they had kidnapped and killed one of their partners.

Thanks for the confirmation CBob. Hate hearing about this crap so close to home.

I also understand that the Joco policia refused to respond to this event. They are not in good standing with the Fuerza Única or the Chapala policia right now.

One Mothers Day, several years ago, when they blew up the Joco
Santander ATMs, it took the Joco policía 3 hours to respond - from a distance of about 5 blocks. One particularly nasty weekend they left town all together.

Probably time for the State Police to take over Joco........

They're not much better.

That "particularly nasty weekend" under Mario Chavez, the Army came in. They set up stop and checks at the entrance to Joco and out on the west end at the Crucero. When I drove through, they were very polite, said they had it under control not to worry, gave me their business card with numbers to call for denuncias or if I saw anything suspicious, and sent me on my way.

I think it was that weekend that I passed a duellly white pickup with tinted windows coming in the opposite direction at the topes and school just as you come into town with a ~ 16 y/o kid in the back sitting up on something watching all the traffic and an AK47 propped between his thighs. I accidentally established eye contact with him and my blood ran cold. . .or maybe that was a different weekend.

My maid tells me there are halcones out at the crecero and next to the plaza these days too.

Interesting to hear all this Joco history that I'm not aware of. Makes me wonder if I didn't make a big mistake settling there. Police are worthless cowards and narcos carry guns openly in public. Tell me if you wouldn't feel a little more secure being able to defend yourself. I sure would.

Pedro Malo, you having a gun is just more likely to get you killed -- especially here. You do not have a fantasy of winning a shootout with cartel members and/or Mexican cops, do you?

"Defend yourself"?? Unless you're going to shoot first, you'll already have a hole in your body by the time your draw your weapon.

Defend yourself? You are not a target or being attacked or you would be dead already..and maybe your whole family. It is good to stay away from those guys and not to get into a gun battle.
I am sure the special police did not want the local cops mudding the scene .

My wife reported the the elements of the Fuerza Unica who did the killing were arrested and are in custody?

Apparently the killings were done extra-judicially (revenge killing) and they did not have authorization? Interesting situation.

oh well and the beat goes on and it really has nothing to do with us cops , drug dealers they are all bad news.
