The insurance company and the authorities weren't concerned in finding the culprit. To add insult to injury MY car was impounded; and in order to release the car I had to sign a waiver to discharge them from any further involvement.

Bad moto riders too! Passing on right, flying, in and out of traffic, tailgating . . .
If this victim actually did get launched into the back window of the car, he was probably flying. If he was fully helmeted, he might be ok or paralysed. If he/she was not fully helmeted, dead.

They are not a bad set of stoplights. They are two stoplights controlling one intersection. They are common in JALISCO.
To turn left from any direction one must first turn right, follow the “roundabout” to the left and exit the intersection straight ahead with a green light. This applies to any intersection in La Floresta. See the signs! If the vialidad see you doing it any other way you will get a ticket.

JALISCO driving rules state that to turn left you must first pull over to the right with your left indicator flashing stating you wish to turn left. You may then turn left when it is safe to do so. Do we do it locally? Not usually.  Not even in Guadalajara but there are many laterals there that point you in the right direction without breaking the law.
Elsewhere in JALISCO you will get a ticket for not following that rule. Especially in PV and on the west coast.

Why do I keep writing JALISCO. Well, driving licenses and vehicle plates in Jalisco are state issued and not Federal issued. So, you have a JALISCO driving license and JALISCO plates on your car. You follow JALISCO driving laws. Nowhere do you have a MEXICAN driving license, MEXICAN plates on your car or MEXICAN driving laws. If you enter another state you must acquaint yourself with the laws of that state.
This is the same as the USA or Canada. Understand!

Well that is my rant for the day. Have a great one folks

Obviously, you are not familiar with all the semaforos at the major glorietas (roundabouts) in Guadalajara.

Well, if there was a glorieta at that intersection that would be a fair comparison.

That's right! How can anyone define that intersection as a glorieta?

I think that set of lights is whacky too.

Whoa!.....that is a glorieta.
Some glorietas you are forced to go around the circle, others like this one has a straight through passing but the glorieta rules still apply for turns, as it does on this one on the Carretera and Paseo del Lago in Ajijic.
All up and down Lopez Mateos in GDL there are these same situations (roundabout and/or straight through), such as L. M. and  Av. Guadalupe, L. M. and Mariano Otero to name a few and many, many others, all controlled by traffic lights.  Not uncommon.

Well, maybe part of the problem is that it does look like a glorieta to a lot of us country bumpkins.

In all glorieta situations, you are never legally allowed to make a left hand turn, regardless of whether you are moving on the circumference or the diameter (if there is one) of the circle, only right hand turns.
On this particular glorieta, there is signage as you approach it, on the right hand side indicating how you should make turns.
If approaching the glorieta moving north on Paseo del Lago and you wanted to go left on the Carretera, you would have to do a 270 and make a right hand turn. from the glorieta.
When I'm in Ireland, which has a lot  more glorietas (roundabouts) than Mexico, you are not allowed to make a right hand turn (whew!), but there of course you driving on the other side of the road, and by the time you get to a pub and order a Guinness Beer , It's no wonder that you ask the barkeep " how many pesos do I owe you" as you are counting  out euros. Very Happy

Until today I thought glorietas were circles you had to enter into and exit from one of multiple roads. I always have turned right at the Pranza light and curved around to the left and then crossed over the carreterra when the light permitted. But, I did it that way because it was safer, never considered the two lights as part of a glorieta. It seemed to be just another screwy intersection to me.

The signs are there, in La Floresta, about how to exit and enter as per a glorieta. Just be grateful that there is a straightaway instead of having to go completely around.

For me that is the problem with calling it a glorieta. You never have to go completely around because there is no completely around.

Agree with that, LOL, which led me to google glorieta/roundabout. Here is the definition. . .

"A modern roundabout is a circular intersection where drivers travel counterclockwise around a center island. There are no traffic signals or stop signs in a modern roundabout. Drivers yield at entry to traffic in the roundabout, then enter the intersection and exit at their desired street.

Studies by the Federal Highway Administration have found that roundabouts can increase traffic capacity by 30 percent to 50 percent compared to traditional intersections."

Yet many of the "circular intersections" in Guadalajara also have lights controlling them.
