No garbage collection

We've had NO garbage collection in Las Salvias for 10 days! I wish I knew someone to contact that could make a difference.

Chuni, the Ajijic delegado. I would go in person to his office which is right across from the plaza.

Take a few neighbors with you.

Take some pics of any trash heaps along too.

And just for the record, Ajijic centro ( 2 or 3 block radius of the LCS) has had pretty much uninterrupted, 6 day a week pickup since I have been living here and probably long before that. I do wonder why they don't pick up out around La Bodega though........reprisals perhaps??

Maybe more likely: La Bodega is sort of alone in the middle of a lot of residental housing, whereas we lucky ones are surrounded by B&B's, restaurants within the block and the next ones as well as LCS.......all of which generate more trash than surrounding areas. Though we might like to think...............

Cities usually give priorities to centro so what you experience in the centro is not representative of what other people experience..

I was just being a smart ass about the reprisals as we know the number #1 "anti-government" gringo lives down that way......jaja.

More than likely the larger truck driver doesn't like maneuvering down there. I usually see them come down Madero and hang a right on 16th de Septiembre. No excuse though. You don't get regular pickup out west either, Brigitte?

We get pick up twice a week most of the time late in the day.., it seems that some street get pick up and some are overlooked.. not sure why. There lots of garbage bags on Ocampo in our direction but I do not know if I see them because they are being pickeup late or if they are not always picked up. On Ocampo the pick up are supposed to be every day but I do not know if it happens or not. My cleaning ladt says a lot of people with pick up are bring garbage on Ocampo so maybe areas that are not picked up bring trash here and for that reason there is more garbage than usual.

Where I used to live they handed out stickers every year (enough for 2 large black garbage bags per week) to use on your trash bags. They would only take bags that had a sticker. If you wanted more stickers you had to buy them. Properly separated recyclables did not require a sticker. Perhaps a system such as this needs to be implemented. The stickers could be handed out when you pay your property taxes. Landlords would have to ensure their tenants received the stickers.

They should also make the use of trash cans mandatory.

Are you suggesting that people buy trash cans to put out? The official ones on the posts have been vandalized or stolen some time ago. I don't see individual ones lasting long.

I think all anybody wants is to be given a WRITTEN SCHEDULE of what days the garbage (and what kind) will be picked up. Then DO IT.
My garbage, kept in a shady spot within my yard, does not stink nearly as badly as the bag that I have to bring in from the street after it has sat all day in the sun on the day that it was SUPPOSED to have been picked up.

Yes, I am suggesting just that. Keeps the animals out and looks a lot better than trash bags piled on the sidewalk or hanging from poles, etc.......I have been using a trash can ever since I moved here. Still like brand new.

Maybe the muni could petition Rubbermaid or Sterilite for some donations of trash cans for those that can't afford one.

The trick to trash cans is to paint them some god awful colour, like flourescent orange. Then no one will want them.

Wouldn't the trash cans wind up knocked around in the way of traffic on some of those very narrow Ajijic streets with not much sidewalk?

I'm so glad I had one of those oil drums that swivel made for in front of my house. The dogs can't get into the trash but these wouldn't work in most areas of Ajijic.

I live on the narrowest street in Ajijic and have no problem placing it between parked cars. It takes less space than 2 or 3 garbage bags (which it holds) piled on the sidewalk.

Why not collection bins is specific areas? Works well in GTO in addition to regular curb pick up. Keeps the trash contained in one spot and the dogs out of it.

OK I admit it. I have no idea what GTO means, Defarge. I know where GTA is and there used to be a Pontiac GTO.
