Cheap car rental

I will be arriving lakeside on August 1 for a 2 month stay. I want to have a car at least part of that time, but I can't afford to rent one for the whole time. I have heard that Mark Murford is the best and cheapest. Is that the general opinion? Any others cheaper? I sent Mark a msg and will wait to see if he can help me. Meanwhile, anyone else with other options, let me know. Thanks

One the other hand, be prepared for a car that has seen much better days, long long ago.
The smell is that classic "old car smell". On the other hand, his rates are the best, and he's very helpful and prompt. Costs around 200 US a week or 600 a month for his "classics".
The other folks want around $350 or more by the week.

Yep and you don't have to worry about any minor "skirmishes" while navigating the narrow streets.

I've got one of his "classics" right now for this month and will do it again next month. His rates include insurance and I think they are good. They aren't particularly pretty, but they run, get you where you want to go, and you have multiple numbers to call if you have any problem, including Mark's cell & home.
Mine doesn't smell, I do occasionally, but not the car.

I am sold. He hasn't responded to my email yet, so I hope he has a car. If I don't hear, I will send another message tomorrow. If the car smells, I'll just open the windows!

If you get stuck S&S Auto rents autos. Don't know their current rates but the cars are nice. I've only rented short term and it was around 500 pesos per day.
