Upscale Restaurant recommendation

A friend is coming into town end of month and wants to know of a really nice upscale restaurant to have a small group dinner. Any suggestions?

I know of no ¨"upscale" restaurants in the Chapala area and that is not intended as a putdown simply an observation that Lakeside is not a culinary destination which is OK by me. This new Elegante restaurant has been receiving accolades from some posters but I have not been there. If their assessments have merit, it is worth a try. If I had to eat out, I would head up the Chapala-Guadalajara Carretera to Chololo, about 30 minutes north of Ajijic for memorable food in a fun atmosphere.

Try Armandos Hideaway.

St.Remy is perfect for a special occasion. Verylovely and delicious food.

If you want the view go to Sima del Copal (sp?) in SJC. The food there lately has been excellent and the view can't be beaten. I had one of the best filite mignon ever there a few weeks ago.

I second the recommendation for St Remy. Nice venue and excellent food. Pricey, but you get good quality for your pesos.

Went with friends to Elegante last night... Good service, excellent presentation, interesting menu. Agree with jrm30655, another excellent spot with great service...
