Homestay
Bob, do you have any vacancies?
I have 2 friends coming, unrelated, end of Jan/early Feb and they need places to stay. Pickings are slim as it's high season. One is a male backpacker type and I'd like to find a Homestay for him for 3 weeks. The other is an older woman looking to retire here and will be here about 10 days.
Anybody know of anything in that timeframe? Anybody know of any Homestays in the area??? Homestay means staying with a Mexican family in their house, Spanish speaking only (even if they speak English) and willing to help the guest learn Spanish, providing meals for extra or included available as well, house provides a clean well-enough appointed bedroom and bath. Amenities might be a private entrance or a private garden/patio space.
Homestays are very popular for language learners and backpackers and I think they'd be great here but have never heard of one. Anyone have any ideas???
TIA

Re: Homestay
Have you looked for ads for casa de huespedes? I stayed in one many years ago and that’s how they advertised it.

Re: Homestay
Thanks, Bob.
Well, it seems anyone and everyone who has a space to offer tourists now calls it an airbnb. And with that, the price goes up to mostly double.
I did find 2 guest houses here, a place in Chapala and one in Ajijic. Might work . . .
We need a hostel or Mexican homestay places for younger travelers.
