Thoughts and prayers to David and his family. His wife posted this on Facebook.

David was one classy person, intelligent, kind and caring. He will be missed by every one who knew him. RIP David.

I could always count on David for thoughtful and accurate advice. I very much enjoyed his gusto approach to life.

Pass peacefully my friend.

My heart goes out to Anne for the emotional turmoil that she is going through. Hard to let him go. I understand completely. May he pass in peace and set you free by knowing that he's no longer suffering.

Oh no oh no. I'm so sorry, always enjoyed his posts and wisdom. May he have a sweet passing. Condolences to his brave wife and family.

My thoughts, tool. I have known him and Anne personally for years and admired his enthusiasm, his intelligence and positive personality.
The latest word is that he now has pneumonia. This should hasten the inevitable with some mercy. Goodbye with sadness, David.

What a sad surprise. RIP David. You will be missed.

Terribly, terribly sad news.
He was one of the most quality personages to have lived in our community.
His passing will leave a void that will not be replaced anytime soon.

These are the times that can make grown men, and women........CRY!!!

The worst thing about getting old is losing your friends too soon. The last time I saw David was in January at a mutual friend's birthday gathering.  He didn't know about his problems yet, but he seemed rather sad, which was rare for him.  The next week he was hospitalized and it was all downhill from there.
This is going to be very hard on his wife, but friends will be there for her.

Update from a friend who took Anne to the hospital today to say goodbye.
The pneumonia hasn't progressed, but they said they were told that no matter what, it was illegal to remove the breathing tube, in spite of David having a DNR living will and Anne signing one, too.
IMHO, that is inhumane, but that's what it is.

David meant a lot to those of us who have known him for years.... and it sounds like to those who just knew him indirectly also. A class act. My heart goes out to Anne at this time and I know that she will miss him terribly.

I am so sorry to hear this. And so sorry you have to go through this Anne.

There is no such a ting as DNR here, if you are in the hospital it is to be treated so if you want no help you have to stay home with a friendly doctor or say you have no money and then they have no problem disconnecting everything.. It is a very sad situation. Hopefully David will go quickly and peacefully.

That's what I've seen too, Brigitte. If you have hefty insurance or lots of cash or you are in one of the big fancy expensive hospitals in Guad - they will keep you. Hospital Civil and IMSS will send you home to die.

Hoping to get an update on David. I sure will miss his posts.

So sorry to read this, may he pass quickly and quietly for Anne's sake. It is so hard to have to watch and wait for the inevitable. May he Rest in Peace.

Poor sweet man. My heart goes out to David and his wife. What a horrible thing to have to go through.

I just got word that David died at about 7 this morning. He never regained consciousness.

David was a fine man. Now our attention should turn to Anne, his loving and devoted wife. Actually they were BOTH devoted to each other. Sad morning but glad that this is over for Anne.

David was so full of enthusiasm for life.

So sad but inevitable and probably the best worst solution to this terrible tragedy.

So sorry. He was such a wonderful guy.

So sorry for Anne. David was with us on this board a long time. I will miss him.

I followed this board for a year before coming down for a visit. I really liked David's thoughtful, intelligent answers to questions and I reached out to him. He and Anne were our first friends here and it was a pleasure and an honor to know him. Rest in peace dear friend.

I was lucky and glad to have met him. RIP
