Salvador’s closing?

A local Facebook group had a posting about favorite breakfast places. Someone posted: “Salvadors in Ajijic - sadly it is closing April 2nd after decades.” Anyone else hear about this?

Sadly it is true. Apparently there are new tenants who will be leasing the space from the owner of Salvador's, and reopening in a month or two after a major remodel perhaps as an Italian restaurant.

We were told that Sunday April 1, (Easter Sunday) will be the last day.

H'm, are you sure this isn't a April 1 joke. I see and talk to Jorge a couple times a week and he's said nothing. Why not just ask him?

Always one of the best breakfast bargains around. Hopefully they resurrect themselves in a new location.

Salvador said he is not selling the property. Rather offering, offered it for rent and that the new renters will be doing some remodeling before reopening.

He once commented that should the new place fail he might reopen Salvador's once he returns from Qatar where he will be visiting one of his daughters.

Just spoke with Jorge and they (he and the Italian folks - Headed up by Erik) signed the lease documents yesterday. They are supposed to start working on the premises on Monday.

So, where does one go, to while away the morning, and bump into old friends? Where are Nacho, Pancho, and the rest of the crew working?

Seems to me it would be El Jardin and Black & White Coffee in the Ajijic Plaza.

Great, there aren't near enough poor performing Italian restaurants around. Hopefully it doesn't take long for Salvador to put it back, like it was.

Yeah. We need another Italian restaurant here like we need another thousand cars on the road.
