We have found, which works the best for mosquitoes, is lemon eucalyptus oil, purchased from Mercado Libre. It is the only natural repellent recommended by the U.S. health authorities (sorry, think it is CDC). I ambitiously grew a tree - then I saw how much leaves I would need to make an oil. The oil is produced in Australia and India. It has a wonderful smell - lemon with a hint of eucalyptus - of course! It is sold in the U.S.A. as "Repel" - very popular, but cannot ship by air.

In that case, Dave, we less educated masses would sincerely appreciate your addressing Mother Nature with the instruction that she is in error and must immediately cease raining on us until we have a chance to prepare ourselves for the rainy season.

That’s for sure. The rest of NA has been getting unusual weather the past several years so why shouldn’t we. We saw the lake almost dry up 15 or so years ago so a flooding is probably overdue.

That wind and rain was howling in from the N/E yesterday. I have never seen winds that strong in my 6 years here. Even when that hurricane skirted us a few years ago they weren't as strong (at least at my place).

The average precip for May is 0.13" and we are well above that. I'm wondering if this May will break the records?

Yes...the N/E wind blew off the lake and right in our face on the southshore...SLAM.
We have had strong winds off the lake, but not like last evening. The wind blew stuff EVERYwhere.
Pool chair ended up in the neighours garden.
I hesitate to call this the "rainy season"...likely we will have a few weeks of dry before mid-June...J.S.in'.
