New Library in San Juan Cosalá
Please visit the Token Store website for the story on the new library Nancy Brown opened on the plaza in San Juan Cosalá. She has put in hours of work and it is amazing. If you have a chance to go by and see it, it is really something special and a great improvement to the kiosk on the plaza! Many thanks to the Presidente of Jocotopec for allowing her to use this space for something so beneficial to the community.
Also while there, click on the tab for the cafe and take a peak and the new and improved menu.

Right now there are over 1,300 books and over 550 in Spanish. Some of the simple children's picture books in English are having Spanish translations added. There will also be story time in Spanish and sometimes with English added. Poco a poco.

Don't forget Café La Canasta too which is one of our projects to help generate income for the locals. Great breakfast on Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 9 - 12. There is now an adult English class in the library once a week for adults. Also, in the future the library will be adding access to adults to check out books. Nancy's idea in the beginning was for children but she is finding a much greater need for the whole community.
Right now the library is open Monday - Thursday in the morning at 10 - 11:30 and in the afternoon at 3:30 - 5:00. With over 300 children with "library cards" those hours will probably be extended in the future. It is a real juggle to try to accommodate school times and after school activity times to find free time for 300!

Are you accepting donations of books? I have several books on learning English for Latinos, lots of kids story books in Spanish, all new, were to be sent to Costa Rica but now decided to donate locally, if you can use them.

Sarita,
I would love to hear from you. Please check your in box for my phone #/email address. The library would love to add your books to the collection. There is even an English class being taught on Wednesdays that would benefit from the books on learning English for Latinos.

Sarita,
Thank you so much for the wonderful and really fun books for the library in San Juan Cosalá. With your donation they now have over 1,400 books and more than half are in Spanish. Your generosity is deeply appreciated.
