Mexican postal service to Canada
Mexican postal service to Canada
Does anyone have a clue how many days it takes a letter in the Mexican postal service to get from Lakeside to Canada?

Days? How about months.
Use a service like iShop or Handy Mail that will get it to the U.S. first and then go from there to Canada. It's reasonable in cost but they will ask you if there's a cheque inside so be forewarned. There's a max limit in dollars in total cheques that they can transport without being fined.

Handy Mail checks inside the envelope and will not take any checks. I have a box there and had to go to I-Shop to mail a check.

Thanks Carry Bean. I guess Handy Mail got burned once too often.
Honestly, if I was sending a cheque to ANYONE for any purpose, I would be sending it by courier just to get the proof that it had been received.

Several months usually. I recently had a envelope sent from Vancouver to here via Expresspost (which seems to be the courier for Canada Post). It cost $63 dollars and took 39 days. It sat in Mexico city for 12 days.
When I used to send Xmas cards from here to Canada they would usually arrive February to April.

Neither Expresspost nor U.S.P.S. Express are really courier services... more like expedited mail and I would compare them to what "Air Mail" used to be compared to a normal posted letter.
Courier (like Fedex) is expensive but it gets the job done in a few days... Ajijic to Ottawa was three days and vice versa as well.

Expresspost should be much more than Air Mail as it cost over $60.ferret wrote:Neither Expresspost nor U.S.P.S. Express are really courier services... more like expedited mail and I would compare them to what "Air Mail" used to be compared to a normal posted letter.

Should be but is not and especially not when Mexico is the destination. I think they work just fine within the U.S. and/or Canada.

Really depends on how healthy the donkeys are...I receive mail from NOB and it is usually takes about 4 months. It normally first goes to mexico city from there it is taken to the donkey stables and the mail is loaded on to a donkey that does the Guadalajara run.. and from Guadalajara it goes by moto to Ajijic..

I have sent registered mail from the Chapala post office and it took about 10 days to arrive. It can only be tracked on line to Mexico City. If you want to know if it was actually delivered you have to go into the post office where they can look up the record.
