I wonder why local folks do not support the local merchants,...... but some one who probably does not contributed to the local economy tax base, but just squatters and take up parking space

Yes he most definitely would require permits etc. to opertae his business there and likely has enough influence to keep others from getting permits to do the same. He has been there for many, many years. His son operates the mobile franchise from the wheelbarrow around the Ajijic plaza. He told me his name was Angelo.

I patronize him because his is real "no bullshit" coffee. I like it strong and black with no sugars, and that's when it makes a difference!

I have never seem any official permits pasted on his truck/windows...ha but I expect he is part of the regular underground economy that is part of the Mexico scene..Good luck AMLO in cleaning up the pervasive, lying, stealing, cheating

That is one sad, negative post by Mr. Knowitall.  What a pleasant person he must be, to be around.

It really is a classic post. It combines ignorance with a judgmental need to question the motives of other people, all in only 33 words.

... And sprinkled with that all-important bit of moral superiority. Thumbs up

Who remembers the post from tob? Guy wants to have a hot dog stand. He wants to do it legally.
https://www.chapala.com/webboard/index.php?/topic/83021-food-carts-into-mexico-from-us/

He was discouraged, one poster even suggested his cart might go missing .

Was his money not good enough for the Mexican economy, even if he had the proper paper work and visas?

Immigrants in the US are quite successful running a business 'legally' and are encouraged!

Do you go around to every business in town and ask why their permits are not pasted to their windows? I'm sure he has the proper permits and could show them to you if you asked (although it's none of your business!)

I am confused as to why you think there is a more "local" business we should be patronizing. Francisco lives here, at least part time. His family has a small coffee plantation near Orizaba in Vera Cruz. He brings the freshly roasted beans and grinds them here. Or you can buy them whole. I imagine there are other family members with similar trucks in other towns. They support a large extended family in Vera Cruz.

My taxi driver knows Francisco and thinks it's great that I am a regular customer. He raves about how hard working the family is and thinks it's a good thing that people are supporting a family business rather than a more commercial operation.

Plus he has really good coffee and I will admit a mild addiction.
