So they have installed some large round metal bins on hinges (for easy dumping) throughout Ajijic Centro including one at the plaza. Great idea until they steal the large metal bins. The one on my corner lasted about 4 weeks. You can probably find it at the metal recyclers.......

The bins are from the recycle group headed by Tom Thompson and they are taking donations to have them made. The one near you that just disappeared was paid for by neighbors. One is across from my garage and another will be going up by LCS. You can specify a location or let them make the decision where it is most needed. Do I need to mention the folks that I have seen taking out the cans for their own recycling.?

Barbara's Bazaar - don't know if he is aware about the one stolen, damaged or whatever happened to it. He is aware that folks are taking cans, some plastic as well.

The big cage was stolen and the frame was vandalized (bent over etc.) I was wondering what the people on the corner thought of a garbage dump outside their front door. People were dumping all sorts of things there.

Yes, they are dumping ALL kinds of things in there. There is one at the corner of 16 de Septiembre and Colon and the local shop owners are up in arms about the rats and the dogs. Great concept but poor execution. The grill is too big so the dogs can pull stuff out; the rats are going after the garbage because no one has informed the people what it's REALLY for and the pick up guys aren't cleaning up what they drop when dumping it.
Disgusting, dirty and degrading.

Just saw someone who lives on the corner of the supposedly "trashed" recylcle
bin who contributed to the purchase. A SIMAPA truck backed into the bin and it is being replaced by SIMAPA.

Don't know about the one on Colon but the one accross from my garage has been no problem... No unwanted trash and the chicken wire that goes halfway up has kept dogs and kids out of the bin.

I'm impressed to see that the wrecked bin has been replace so quickoy and many more have been added around Ajijic Centro. I am wondering if we are to use the closest bin or still put the recycling out front on the designated days? Anyone know?

After having put stuff out on the "designated days" to no avail, do you know which those are in our neighborhood?

Monday for us but you now have a bin about 40 steps away across from the LCS main gate. I've been taking mine to the other corner which is closer for me.
