Tides
The things one thinks of at 3:00 AM!
Does anyone know if Lake Chapala experiences tides of any proportion?

Re: Tides
No, however there are a few tidal lakes in the world. One of them being Pitt lake just outside Vancouver.

Re: Tides
Lake Chapala has tides but they are so slight people wouldn't notice. Fluctuations in water levels in lakes (seiches) can be more noticeable than tides. These are caused by wind buildup of water and different barometric pressure on different parts of a lake.

Is Pedro still living lakeside? I haven't heard or seen a word about him now for at least a year.

But that is not considered to be a tide by definition.cypress wrote:Lake Chapala has tides but they are so slight people wouldn't notice. Re: Tides
Not exactly a tide but it is similar-water going up and down vertically for no obvious reason.

Re: Tides
Funny story. When my Mom first visited about 10 years ago when the lake was way down she said "oh it looks like the tide is out right now"......

He may have retired his "snork" for a bit but not his style of writing or personality. Still the same old crap.

Re: Tides
Aside from wind driven differences, lakes do bulge in the middle. Surprised? No, they are not level.

Not yet retired the snork. I go the full benefit on a thread over there. Good to know who 'Happyjillin" really is. It figures.

Re: Tides
Just wondering why The Flat Earth Society does not assume all planets , moons and stars are not flat as well??
Are we being deceived there as well?
Next they’ll be taking the Easter Bunny and Puff The Magic Dragon from us! Is nothing sacred??
