La Vaca Argentina
I don't normally plug a restaurant but today for a special occasion we went to La Vaca Argentine here in Guadalajara. I highly recommend it. To me it is a step above the rest of the Argentine style steakhouses in the city, including La Matera. It is a half a block off Hidalgo on Tomas v Gomez near Centro Magno.
Excellent service along with perfectly prepared meals. For those who will inevitably ask, the tab came to 1147 pesos plus tip for 4 persons.

153 on the debit card and a 50 peso not. If I had had a 20 peso note instead of a 50 he would have gotten that instead. But that is how it goes sometimes.

Not the restaurant being discussed by here is a foto of an entree called: Churraso Martin Fierro taken at the El Rincon Guacho Argentine Steakhouse in Leon, Guanajuato:

Look close at the upper edge of the beef and you can see the cheese and garlic stuffing.

El Rincon Gaucho is one fine place! We dined there last year. The other place we enjoyed in Leon was the Panteon Taurino.

Interestingly, I ordered the above cooked rare and it was very tasty and tender. Kathy chose the same entree except with a cheese and blended tomato stuffing cooked medium and was less flavorful and somewhat tough. Could have been overcooking this particular cut or simply a less tender piece of meat?
As we stayed at the Holiday Inn directly across from the Zona Piel, we tried El Braserio located diagonally across the street for lunch. Not a great exterior but the interior was very attractive and the food was quite good. This restaurant offered an entire goat for $1480MXN.

Just keep the glasses filled, joven. Por favor.

They specialize in grilled beef, with cuts typical to Argentina. They usually also serve pastas and pizzas and savory turnovers etc.

cheenagringo - Looks similar to the wine selection at Trattoria di Pomodoro Italian restaurant on Ninos Heroes in GDL, but I think Pomodoro's is larger.

Re: La Vaca Argentina
Could it be that the Guadalajara restaurant has a larger customer base due to the population?
I don't get it! First cheaper is better and now bigger is better! Besides, I didn't think you drank?

I'm sure GDL has a larger customer base. I doubt many restaurants have wine coolers of that size.
