Any hydroponic growers out there?
I have been looking into this for a hobby to have fresher, organic veggies. Not sure what grows quicker and where best to buy seeds, nutrients and and special issues living where we do.

There should be some hydroponic stores in Guadalajara. No? The lighting requires a lot of electricity.

Yes there are.
Go to Laura's Garden Store next to 7-11 in Riberas and she will help you. Or see Vicky at her garden store a few doors east of Container Restaurant.
The guy who owns Green Go (forget his name) grows micro greens hydroponics. Maybe has website, maybe sells at Torito see label for contact, maybe still sells at Tues Market. Maybe out of business, dunno.
SunFan may have more info.

Growing indoors is the best way to avoid the constant war against pests and critters. I would order an indoor grow tent and full spectrum led light from Amazon, if they are still delivering right now. These will be inexpensive if made in China. The grow tent looks like a large wardrobe case, but it is lined with mylar reflection film. The led lights consume marginal power and do not get hot. You might also need a temperature controled heat mat and timer. One advantage of the tent is that it will discourage your little guy from " helping" when you are not looking. A disadvantage is that if people saw your tent, they would assume you are growing cannabis. Make them a salad.
Quid pro quo seeds. My friend in Jocotepec has thousands of seeds, mostly organic. She is having trouble renting a place that can allow her peafowls, one peacock and a couple dogs. If you hear of anything interesting, she will give you enough seeds over a lifetime

Re: Any hydroponic growers out there?
Seems organic seeds refers to seeds from viable organic grown sources, with no protective chemical coating on the seeds. This is technically illegal in Mexico, but they are not enforcing it. The advantage with growing from organic sources is that if you are choosing from a viable plant grown with this method. Some plants are notoriously prone to disease and pests. On the other hand, anything from seed is not as identical as the original plant. Only clones from that plant will be identical. But I dont think anyone is going to bother to take clones from a lettuce lets say. Unless potatoes, cut from the tuber maybe.

Chillin' you did not answer the question.
To answer your question, Jreboll, she is a huge seed collector and has been collecting and storing her seeds for years. She has an amazing variety. She is not a grower, per se, but loves to collect seeds. She does grow a few of her seeds but most of them are not proven. Over the years she has generously given me seeds to try when I was growing produce. I had mixed results. Some of her seed suppliers are well-known organic companies but she gets many of her seed packets from China as she gets them to ship directly to her door. When it comes to China, I'd say the terms organic or non-gmo may be believable or not.
