What's a Canadian Pizza?

While watching Food Network Canada yesterday an ad for Pizza Hut ran in which they advertised price specials for certain pizzas, including their Canadian Pizza.  A nomenclature unknown to me before seeing this ad.

It didn't describe it, so I googled it.  Seems to be bacon, pepperoni, mushroom at Pizza Hut, but I found other variations in my search.

So Canadians, what's on YOUR Canadian pizza, eh?

Never seen one in the sixty years I lived in Canada. Sounds like marketing to me.

There is this whole thing where the American concept of Canadian bacon is a piece of peameal back bacon. Like slices of cured pork. When in fact Canadian bacon is what the British call "rashers", which is basically a piece of regular bacon. Maybe Pizza Hut US is putting back bacon on their pizzas?

I have no idea and I'm Canadian. I do remember going to Detroit in the sixties and asking for green pepper on my pizza and they looked at me like I was from outer space.
My normal is pepperoni, mushrooms and onions. I would jump at the chance to order one with shrimp, crumbled bacon and fresh basil.

It has Canadian back bacon, poutine cheese, beer sauce and is eaten with a hockey stick.......
