ILOX A Bit Wonky This Morning - Page 2 Empty Re: ILOX A Bit Wonky This Morning

Post by Bubba2shoes Mon Jun 29, 2020 6:33 pm

I must admit to having been a bit surprised that so many local folks bought into the notion of purchasing in advance the proffered ILOX product although I do not mean that in a disparaging way. ILOX management laid out some seemingly attractive incentives for those who, with their up front investments, bought priority into what was advertised as the new, sure to be popular and advanced technology in their line of business but I could not reconcile the risk/reward potential in accepting that upfrontasyetuninstalledanduntriedservice. If there is one thing that 78 years on the planet and 20 years in Mexico has taught me it is that I should never front money for anything except, perhaps, and in limited circumstances, fine wine and alcoholic beverages manufactured to the highest standard but in the aging process, especially anything new on the market and locally untried. That notion goes in spades for innovative electronic services and condominiums under construction but as of yet incomplete. Back in Alabama where this boy was raised in the 1940s, we had lots of isolated beautiful white sand beaches fronting crystal waters on the Gulf for which we could overcharge naive Yankees observing impossibly beautiful beaches and crystalline waters for their first times. We knew those pure white beaches signaled a lack of nutritive soil and the salty waters spraying the land with sea salt contaminated that soil and that meant you could not even grow corn on that land. As it turned out those beach lots had other values we had not discerned as of yet in the 40s and the return in television viewing pleasure ILOX promised up front may show up down the pike but after some rough beginnings.

Seems to be working fine now.

Edited to add: I take that back. It's still wonky.

There was no "advanced techology" fantasy. There was and still is a hope for a better system and better service than the alternatives, amongst hundreds of people who wanted reiliable Internet. If you don't take a chance, you never win, right? Fibre holds the promise of the kind of Intenet throughput that has become essential all over the world, just like the Plain Old Telephone Service became decades ago. Those who paid up front made it better for everyone. With notable exceptions, of course.

Lagunanet was always a very reliable internet provider, Lakeside, before it went wireless. And wireless was great if you lived near the ISP antenna, which I did :)  it sounds like it was much more reliable than ILOX is, these days.

Pete, I used a similar system in San Miguel... old technology and big limitations on speed and time of use.
iLox is 10,000 times better. Sometimes the good 'ole days just ain't.
I have been VERY pleased with iLox.

edited to add: and my iLox is back up and running... which is 10,000 times better response to a problem than Telmex ever had.

Lagunanet was the first internet Service provider (ISP) lakeside. Rod Collins introduced it to Lakeside in the late spring of 1997. The download speed was regulated to be no faster than 28.8 bits per second down and because there was no limit on the upload speed and that went up to, I think about 60 bits per second.

Over the years things got faster and faster. To make a long story short, those were the good old days when Lagunanet was the best there was. Now we have ILOX to talk about.

This was the first time my Ilox had been out for many hours. Even when a truck took down the lines near my house they had it fixed within a couple of hours.

I live in SAT and lost ILOX Monday. It worked wireless and wired Tuesday until around 7:00 PM. This morning it only works wired. As it is extremely inconvient to have a cable strung across the room, is there a fix for this problem? When checking the list of networks in my area on my computer and Iphone my modem does not even show on the list.

TIA

I would say either the wireless is turned off on your modem or is is broken. Is the wireless light on?

To add insult to injury , it works wired on my TV as I can get Netflix. It does not work wired or wireless with any other device. Time to call Mike

Have you rebooted the modem? Maybe call Ilox?

We are all in the same boat. It's been very iffy since Monday, coming and going. I don't have it right now. It's not a question of rebooting... it will resolve when they resolve it. I was in the office yesterday listening to people complain about it.

Mine finally wouldn't work at all.
I did the reset and it went totally back to square one where I had to put in the "security key" (read password) as if I was setting it up all over again.
NOW it works. I had written the password on the modem instructions and put everything (original contract and installation receipt) back in the original box and stored it.
BTW, the original installer's name was Juan Jose and his cell number is(was) 331-186-8827 if anybody needs it.
