Ferret,

That was a good article and the world needs more of these plantings. It is an effective way to reduce CO2 in our atmosphere, but not taken very seriously I'm afraid.

I totally agree! The destruction of Brazil's Amazon Rainforest is happening at an alarming rate. They don't call that Rainforest the earth's lungs without reason.
Perhaps the article should have been named El Puro Aire. Without pure air there is no pure life.
There is room for both trees AND agriculture. They are not mutually exclusive. Tree roots hold the water by preventing erosion. The tree tops break the wind to stop surface soil erosion and drying out.
This is a win/win scenario.

So I did a little digging into this reforestation and Found out that Ethiopia is number one nation in planting trees. Who would ever have thunk that?

That's good news. But, in the areas along the equator (the so called Tropical Rainforest), the trees don't ever lose their leaves. So they are constantly sucking up CO2 and producing oxygen. Deciduous trees that lose their leaves in the fall are not doing that.
So, there may be more trees but what kind and the article doesn't specify that.
