What was your purpose in posting this, ra27? To make people fearful? People get killed, all over the world, every day. If other countries put out the kind of travel advisories the US does, no one would ever even consider going to the US. It's tragic, and I'm sure this elderly couple weren't involved in any thing nefarious, but the fact is, a lot of the time when you read of tourists or expats being killed in Mexico, when the backstory comes out, you find out they were making shady business deals, hanging out with drug dealers, prostitutes, or stupidly followed some real friendly guy they met in the bar who told them he would take them to his house and hook them up with a bag of weed, only for them to be assaulted in a back alley.

I have stopped my subscription to Mexico News Daily. They actively seek out the most horrific stories about this country, and throw in a smattering of "homey" stuff so they don't look completely off the rails.
